I am all over the internet, and can be found at a number of sites and online social networks. Usually I go by the username ‘jonmul‘.
I use claimID to manage my online identity, I highly recommend it. All the places you can find me are listed here – I keep my claimID Profile updated.
I was introduced to Facebook by my friends Jen Piro and Josi Kang whilst studying in Chicago a while back. Like pretty much everyone in the western world I am now using this social networking site to stay in touch and ’start biting chumps’!
Twitter is a ‘micro blogging’ service helping you stay connected by asking the question ‘what are you doing?’ How you receive updates (text/IM/web) and how often you connect with is up to you. Twitter is fast becoming the most successful and most interesting web 2.0 communication platform – I’m using it a lot.
I love Flickr, the online photo sharing community. This was the first online social network I joined, although at the time I just thought it was a site for backing up my pictures. Nowadays hunting through the millions of photos tagged and shared through the site each day is the main reason to visit.
Thanks to del.icio.us my bookmarks always travel with me. Through using it I really started to understand the value of the ‘wisdom of crowds‘ principle, tagging and Folksonomy. All concepts that are really changing the way knowledge management is approached and practiced.
I love music, and Last.fm is a great way of finding new bands and artist by leveraging the wisdom of crowds. It also lets friends see when you’ve been playing embarrassing songs you’d rather they didn’t know you liked!
Google Reader is probably my favorite web application, and one of the best services available for collating and reading RSS feeds. Through Google Reader I’m able to subscribe to hundreds of news sources from around the world and track thousands of stories each week. Items I share from Google Reader are available in my My Shared Items link blog. Indications are that RSS will finally go mainstream in 2008, so I strongly recommend finding out what all the fuss is about and signing up for an account.
On all of these online communities I’m happy to connect with anyone who has similar interests in technology, general geek culture and music. Feel free to send me an invite so I can learn from you!
[...] More of an FYI than a post, but I’ve now got around to updating the ‘Elsewhere‘ and ‘About Me‘ pages of my blog. Check them out if you’re [...]
